Chikungunya Fever should be suspected when a person develops sudden onset of fever, joint manifestations and rash.

Cases are to be categorized as:

1. Possible case: a patient meeting only clinical criteria
2. Probable case: a patient meeting both the clinical and epidemiological criteria
3. Confirmed case: a patient meeting the laboratory criteria, irrespective of the clinical presentation
